And Let Work
As she grows, a child discovers her particular interests and gifts; in sport, art, handicrafts, manual activities, or in different academic subjects at school. These interests will be an important part of her education and development. When she is a teenager, they will enable her to specialize and choose a career, gradually becoming more qualified and competent. She will be admired by her parents, those around her and her friends. Her personality will be strengthened by these abilities which need not necessarily be professional, but might be, for example, those of an excellent cook and housekeeper. We have seen at L'Arche how the characters of people with handicaps are strengthened, structured and developed through their work. They discover that they are capable of doing beautiful things.
