End of Year Mass - June 4, 2009

We celebrated our end of the year Mass this morning in our Quad.  The weather was wonderful, and it was a fitting concluding celebration to a fantastic school year.  Thank you to everyone who made this visible expression of our Catholic faith such a memorable moment!

Principal's Breakfast - May 15, 2009

Our annual Principal's Breakfast to recognize our Honour Roll students was on May 15.  This year we recognized over 215 students, and we were pleased a number of their parents were able to join us for this celebration.  We have now posted pictures of the event.  Enjoy!

On May 1-3 our students took part in the TCDSB annual Olympia leadership camp.  This year our student leaders were responsible for organizing and running the event. They did a superb job!

Grade 9 Orientation

On September 26, all of our 275 Grade 9 students took part in Jean Vanier's Grade 9 Orientation at Bruce's Mill in Markham.  Our Peer Leaders led the newest additions to the Vanier Community through a number of activities desinge to build teamwork and school spirit. The event was a huge success!

Staff - Student Soccer Game

On October 3rd, members of the Jean Vanier Staff played a friendly soccer match with the Boys Soccer team. Despite some "questionable" officiating favouring the staff, the boys still managed to earn a draw. A fun time was had by all!

Breakfast With The Principal 2008

Today, Jean Vanier paid tribute to our Honour Roll recipients during our Breakfast with the Principal. Many of our Honour Roll students were joined by family members who joined us for this annual celebration. After being addressed by Mr. Aguiar (our principal), students were then treated to an inspirational address by graduate J.C. Molina, last year’s Student Council president. Mr. Corallo then called up each of the graduates to receive their certificate from Mr. Aguiar. Breakfast was served afterwards. A special thank you to Ms. Foley for organizing the Breakfast, and congratulations to all of our students who earned a place on the Honour Roll. We are proud of you.

 

E.S.P. Basketball Game

Empowered Student Partnerships (E.S.P.) is a student-led partnership between our The Toronto Police Service, Toronto district school boards, the Canadian Safe School Network, ProAction and the City of Toronto. The program is unique in Canada and challenges secondary school students across Toronto to take initiative and promote safe schools to reduce youth violence. Jean Vanier is a proud member of the E.S.P.program. This year, as an E.S.P. event, our Boys' basketball team played a friendly basketball game against police officer of 14 Division.
